The firm was established in 1964 and its experience covers a broad range of projects including park, open space and waterfront planning and design, urban design, business district revitalization, corporate, institutional, and residential development. The scope of services on these projects includes all aspects of the profession, from site inventory and analysis, programming, master planning and design to the preparation of construction documents, bid analysis and construction supervision.

MKW has a long history of close cooperation with various design disciplines in both the lead and subconsultant role. In addition to numerous national and local chapter ASLA awards, the firm has also received Excellence in Design Awards from the New York City Art Commission for The Everett Children's Adventure Garden at The New York Botanical Garden and Cunningham Park and Flushing Bay Promenade in Queens, NY. MKW has also received two Professional Awards from New York City Department of Design and Construction for The Garden at Staten Island Borough Hall and Richmond Town Restoration. Additionally, the firm has received four American Association of Nurserymen's Awards, which are presented by the Nation's First Lady.
