paseo de flores and tram extension - dallas arboretum
Location: Dallas, Texas
Client: Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Society
In order to connect the main grounds of the Dallas Arboretum with the newly-expanded area to the north, including the Rory Meyers Children's Adventure Garden, the existing Paseo de Flores was extended and gently curves around and integrates with the existing Lay Garden. The Paseo is a beautiful linear garden that forms the Arboretum's north/south main circulation, providing access to the Arboretums many garden features. Quarry stone blocks in the Lay Garden were repurposed as grade-retaining devices within a new planted berm to the east of this extension which buffers the gardens from the adjacent parking area and vehicular circulation. The Paseo also provides access for the garden tram, small vehicles transporting visitors through the Arboretum.
