Ms. Hu is a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual who is passionate about designing public spaces that are site specific, environmentally responsible, and unique to the community. She is interested in designing spaces where the users are not only affected physically by the design and implementation, but also emotionally and socially.
She obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Architecture in 2005. Following that she worked for Morris Sato Studio, a boutique architecture firm in New York City. The desire to design not only buildings but also the public spaces around them led her to further her studies in landscape architecture. She obtained a Master of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2010. During her studies there, she was able to gain some unique experience working at the Fairmount Park Historic Preservation Trust.
Prior to joining MKW + Associates, Ms. Hu has worked at Martha Schwartz Partners in NYC, Arterial in Montclair N.J., Hargreaves Associates in NYC, and Morris Sato Studio in NYC. She has also managed projects of various sizes from playgrounds to large commercial developments.

Ms. Hu has managed projects for both public and private sectors. She has project experience on a wide range of project types from master vision plans to campus and commercial developments, streetscapes, plazas, parks and playgrounds. She has been involved in many projects in the northeast region of the U.S. as well as international projects.
Ms. Hu was involved from concept design to construction documentation in the NYU Kimmel Pavilion project in NYC. The project involved designing the lobby area of the children’s hospital as well as the 7th level roof terraces. Materiality, planting and art were key components of the project. Close coordination with the team of consultants such as architect and civil engineer were critical to the success of this project.
Ms. Hu was also involved from concept design through construction administration in the Verona Park Playground project in Verona, N.J. The project involved coordination with Essex County and civil engineer for grading studies, play equipment, site furnishing and other hardscape and plant material selections. The park was open to the public in 2018 and is well loved by the community. It is now a destination for locals and surrounding town residents.
